Popular Windows OS is Facing End of Support

Whenever a Windows operating system reaches its End of Support or End of Life, there is always a period of chaos where companies are scrambling to react in time. Is your business one of them? If you fail to take proactive measures by implementing new software solutions before the end of support date, you could be exposing your business to unprecedented danger--especially considering how popular Windows 7 is with the user base.

Yes, that’s right. Windows 7, along with Windows Server 2008 R2, will reach its end of support date on January 14th, 2020. While it might seem like it’s a long way off, we assure you that it will arrive sooner than you expect. That being said, it takes longer than just a couple of weeks to implement the fix for an end of support date. Let’s take a look.

What Does End of Support Mean?

Your computer might show messages that your Windows updates are waiting to be deployed. You might even have gotten irritated by how frequent they were. End of Support means that these updates will stop coming in their entirety. In other words, the security updates that your organization needs to stay secure are not being deployed.

Why Is Not Having Support an Issue?

Security updates are important for any business, as organizations that fail to implement them will be putting their operations at risk day-in and day-out. How many hackers out there are currently working on cracking the code of Windows 7? We bet that they will be extremely satisfied when support runs out for the operating system next January. If you don’t take advantage of this now, you could be in for a bad time.

Which leads us to our next point… if you could prevent a security threat from coming into contact with your business in the first place, wouldn’t you want to do it? When you know that your technology solutions are going to be obsolete in the near future, it’s better to bite the bullet and upgrade beforehand, effectively eliminating the possibility that you will be working with technology that’s not up to date (assuming you’re applying updates as they are released, anyway).

PCSOFT can help your business take the first steps toward upgrading away from Windows 7 and other outdated software. To learn more, reach out to us at 02 98730080.
